Major traffic changes begin today on Ramsey County Road I in Arden Hills and Shoreview

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – With completion of work on the south side of Ramsey County Road I near Rice Creek Parkway and Old Highway 8, you’ll find major traffic changes in the area beginning today. County Road I traffic is now a single lane in each direction on the south side of the road east of I-35W.

Additional traffic changes include:

  • County Road I is closed at I-35W between the ramps on each side of the interstate.
Note: The ramps between southbound I-35W and County Road I on the west side of the interstate remain open. The ramp from northbound I-35W to County Road I is closed until December.
  • Rice Creek Parkway is closed at County Road I. You will have to follow a signed detour to reach Rice Creek Parkway.
  • The new Old Hwy 8 frontage road is now open between County Rd I and County Road H on the east side of I-35W. County Road I traffic on the east side of the interstate will detour south on the new frontage road to reach northbound and southbound I-35W and to reach County Road I west of the interstate.
  • I-35W traffic will use County Road H and the new Old Hwy 8 frontage road to reach County Road I east of I-35W as well as the Drivers’ Exam Station and Minnesota Fleet & Surplus Services locations. The new ramp from northbound I-35W to County Road H opened in mid-September.

The Ramsey County project includes construction of a roundabout at the ramp from I-35W northbound, Rice Creek Parkway and Old Highway 8 which leads in to the Arden Hills Driver Services facility. The county is also rebuilding and realigning the ramp from northbound I-35W to County Road I. The ramp from County Road I to northbound I-35W has closed permanently.

In addition, the county plans to improve trail access, build raised medians and new road shoulders. The newly opened frontage road between County Road H and County Road I on the east side of the freeway is also part of the work.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete by early December.
