Soil investigation work for Hwy 12 reconstruction project in Litchfield begins September 19

WILLMAR, Minn. – Soil investigation work on Highway 12 for the downtown Litchfield reconstruction project begins the week of September 19. Crews from Bay West, an environmental engineering company, will be drilling in Litchfield to investigate for contaminated soils. The work will take approximately two weeks. Work will be done on Highway 12, Highway 22 and 4th Street along the project areas.

Drilling will occur on the shoulder and will not impact travel.

MnDOT will reconstruct four blocks of Highway 12 and Highway 22 through downtown from Commercial Street to 4th Street. The project includes the reconstruction of the existing sidewalks from building face to building face. Pedestrian crossings will be updated to meet Americans with Disabilities standards.
