Overnight closure of eastside Hwy 52 Cannon Falls interchange, bridge set Thursday
CANNON FALLS, Minn. – Northbound Highway 52 motorists using the Goodhue County Road 24 interchange at Cannon Falls will be detoured overnight Thursday, June 15 as crews complete paving work on the eastside roundabout, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The closure of the northbound Hwy 52 exit 96 interchange (both off- and on-ramps) will be from 7 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m., Friday. Northbound traffic will be detoured to the Hwy 19 interchange. The interchange and bridge will reopen by 5 a.m., Friday
Motorists seeking businesses on the west side of the interchange will take Hwy 19 exit and return to Hwy 52 southbound. The southbound off- and on-ramps are open, but motorists will not be able to cross the bridge during the closure. Motorists on the west side seeking to go northbound may use southbound Hwy 52 and follow detour signs.
Northbound motorists seeking businesses on the east side as well as the hospital can use the Hwy 19 interchange and travel east on Main Street into Cannon Falls and south to the business and hospital via Fourth Avenue South.
The temporary traffic signals that have been in place during the current stage of construction will be removed Thursday prior to the closure.
MnDOT met with emergency responders prior to the project to talk with them about the closures and other traffic restrictions during the project, so they were aware and understand they would be allowed through in an emergency.
