UPDATE: Third Street closure in Winona to begin May 15 for bridge demolition
WINONA, Minn. –The date has been changed for the closure of Third Street in Winona under the bridges to allow the span of Bridge 5900 to be removed, and crews will begin work on May 15, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The approach spans on Bridge 5900 are being removed and replaced as part of the rehabilitation work taking place. The road closure means motorists should take alternate routes through May 19 while the work takes place.
Rehabilitation work on Bridge 5900 will continue until late 2019 or early 2020. Work crews are sandblasting, painting and installing reinforcing plates on the bridge, which is closed to traffic. Traffic continues in both directions on the new bridge, which was completed in 2016.
