Hwy 74 closed through weekend north of Beaver in Whitewater Wildlife Area
ROCHESTER, Minn. – A 7-mile gravel stretch of Highway 74 north of Elba from Beaver to Weaver is temporarily closed due to water over roadway, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
MnDOT workers placed barricades on the road and road signs warn motorists of the closure. Crews will do minor repair work to the roadway once the water subsides. Crews hope to reopen the highway to traffic either Monday night (May 22) or Tuesday (May 23).
The stretch from Beaver (Winona County Road 30) to Weaver (Wabasha County Road 26) is MnDOT’s only gravel road and is within the Whitewater Wildlife Area north of Elba. Whitewater State Park is south of the road closure.
