Hwy 28 resurfacing project between Graceville, Beardsley begins April 10
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 28 between Highway 75 in Graceville and Highway 7 near Beardsley will encounter intermittent lane closures when a resurfacing project begins Monday, April 10, weather permitting.
During the first week, traffic impacts will be minimal while crews replace culverts at several approaches.
Resurfacing work will begin once spring road restrictions have been lifted.
During that phase of the project, flaggers and pilot cars will allow one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone. Drivers must obey the flagger and follow the pilot car. Motorists entering the highway from driveways or other roads that intersect with Highway 28 must wait for the pilot car to pass, then follow it through the work zone.
The highway will always remain open to traffic.
Central Specialties of Alexandria is the prime contractor for the $2.5 million project. Work is expected to be complete by June.
The project will result in a smoother, safer ride along 13 miles of Highway 28.
