Work begins July 17 on Hwy 73, County Road 5 roundabout in Chisholm

Duluth, Minn. – Construction for a new roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 73 and County Road 5 in Chisholm will begin Monday, July 17.

Stage 1 of this project will take place through August 14, with no anticipated road closures.
Stage 2 begins in mid-August and continues through fall 2017, during this time motorists will encounter a detour.

The detour uses Hwy 169, County Road 67 (4th Avenue East to Lake Street), Lake Street (County Road 67 to 3rd Avenue Northwest), and Hwy 73 (3rd Avenue Northwest).
The $1.8 million roundabout project will:

  • Improve safety and mobility
  • Improve  intersection capacity resulting in reduced traffic backups
  • Improve pedestrian mobility and safety with accessible ramps and access routes
